We started GradMap because we lived the problem. We’re two first-generation founders, one a counselor with 21 years of experience and more than 4,000 students, and one an engineer who helped build the platform, and between us, we’ve seen application season from every side. The students are drowning in it. The parents who can’t help because no one ever showed them how. The counselors were stretched too thin to catch everything. We didn’t build GradMap from a market analysis. We built it from a wound.
And the deepest part of that wound is the part we’re working toward now: the application itself, end-to-end. So we want to tell you plainly what we’re building and why, because the “why” is the whole company.
A College Application Management System, CAMS, as we’ve been calling it internally, is the piece that ties everything else together. Today, GradMap helps students organize their activities, forecast their GPA, get trustworthy guidance from AI trained on real counseling work and verified by humans, and autofill the major applications. CAMS is where those threads become one: every school, every requirement, every deadline, every recommendation, every application, in one place that actually keeps up with the student.
Here’s what it will not do, because what we refuse to build matters as much as what we build. It will not write your student’s essays; that line is permanent. It will not route around your counselor; it’s designed to make their job easier and your student easier to help. And it will not pretend to be finished before it is. We are building CAMS in phases, on purpose, the same way we’ve built everything. A system families trust with the entire application season has to earn that trust one accurate piece at a time, and we would rather be right than fast.
We say “phased and intentional” a lot, and we mean it as a promise, not a hedge. It means that when a piece of CAMS reaches you, it works because we didn’t ship it to meet a date. For families navigating this without a roadmap, as we once did, reliability isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the entire point.
This is the tool we needed and didn’t have. We’re building it carefully because you deserve nothing less.
